Must Do - Keep track of what you eat every day to reach your goals.
If you
want to lose weight read this whole
article to learn why you should do food
journaling if you want to lose weight
permanently.
My clients who take a little time to
keep a daily food journal have quicker
and better success than the ones who
don't. If you want to to lose weight
permanently this step is such a key to
learning how much or how little you are
eating. Many times people say to me, "I
eat pretty healthy," but, in reality,
they don't. Often, My clients are
getting too many calories, too few
calories, portions which are too large
or having too many "cheats" in a week
and they don't even realize it. With
your journals you can see what is going
right and where you need to make
improvements. A food journal is the best
tool to keep you on track. It is such an
incredible learning tool that you will
be amazed by what you'll discover.
Just think about it — 1 handful of chips
equals 45 minutes on the treadmill.
Those chips aren't that good. Writing
down what you eat makes you accountable
not only to me but also to yourself. You
will start thinking about what you are
eating, how much you are eating and the
nutritional content of what you are
eating. You will start to ask yourself,
"Is this good or bad for me?" and "Will
this sabotage the exercise I did today?"
I would encourage you to start food
journaling today. Write down serving
size, calories, fats, carbs and
proteins. You need to know how much you
are eating and what you are eating
because eating is the biggest part of
the weight loss. Write down everything
you eat and you will be suprised by what
you'll learn. Many restaurant have their
nutritional facts about their food
available, if you choose to eat out.
I also want you to remember that it is
very important to read not only the
nutritional facts but also what the food
is made out of. You'll notice that
especially all the ready-to-go packaged
food contains lot of unhealthy chemicals
and preservatives that will cause weight
gain. You need to know what you are
eating.
And a little side note, if you can
afford I recommend to eat organic foods.
Yeah, I know it is little more expensive
and not everyone can afford to buy all
organic but here is a solution: buy
foods that you eat the most. For example
I try to buy organic meats, milk
products and some of my favorite fruits
and vegetables.
Ok, back to food journaling... Food
journaling is kind of like balancing
checkbook. You can't balance your
checkbook without knowing how much money
you have, so how can you lose weight not
knowing how many calories you are
eating? Knowledge is power.
TO DO: Write down what you eat,
serving sizes, and nutritional facts.
Read also labels to find out what the
food contains. This will be a learning
experience that will stick with you for
LIFE! |
