Building self-confidence and assertiveness is probably a lot easier than you think. Know what you want and where you want to be. Have your goals mapped out. Understand that it takes time to move forward, step by step. Have your plan and make yourself follow the steps.

Visualize your goals and let that end result help you stay in control. I often have to remind myself that a piece of cake is not worth another 45 minutes on the treadmill! And I do not want to be another day behind on my goals.

Remember “Don’t sweat the small stuff!” If you do have a bad moment, just let it pass and get right back on track.

Willpower
Learn to make appropriate decisions and respond to stressful situations in ways that will be more likely to have a positive outcome. Feeling mad and sad at yourself for eating a big piece of cake is not a positive outcome. Having the willpower to say no and walking away with your head held high, because you had the power, is certainly a positive outcome!! I tell my clients that each time they stand firm and make the right choice, it gets easier and more empowering. You learn quickly; after a few times you know that you can do it and it feels great!!!
